Menurut laporan Il Corriere dello Sport, Mutu bertemu dengan pemilik klub, Andrea Della Valle, Jum’at 30/4, saat seluruh rekan-rekan satu timnya tengah berlatih. Kedua orang tersebut kabarnya membicarakan soal masa depan Mutu yang kontraknya di Florence masih berlaku hingga 2012 mendatang.
Fiorentina berencana untuk menjual striker-nya, Adrian Mutu, menyusul larangan bermain selama sembilan bulan yang dijatuhkan kepada pemain asal Romania itu akibat penyalahan narkotika dan obat-obatan terlarang.
Larangan bermainnya selama sembilan bulan membuatnya tak nyaman karena Fiorentina memotong gajinya hingga 50 persen selama sanksi tersebut diberlakukan.
Pihak La Viola kabarnya telah menemukan calon pembeli Mutu. Pemain yang akan dijual sekitar lima juta euro itu, sejauh ini masih diminati sejumlah klub, di antaranya Fenerbahce, Galatasaray dan beberapa klub Major League Soccer (MLS) di Amerika Serikat.
